Geothermal Micro Farm

Delaware Water Gap - 2012

Log Structure, SIP Panel Roof System, Geothermal Heating and Cooling, and On-Site Solar Generation

The project borders a fish and wildlife preserve in the Delaware Water Gap. Unfortunately, the previous owner clear cut much of the natural wilderness and installed a mc-mansion foundation prior to being imprisoned for fraud. The new owner’s objective was to remediate the site by replanting native meadows and trees while using small pieces of the existing foundation for free range micro-farm structures.

The design goal was to be carbon neutral through timber construction and geothermal conditioning systems that are powered by On-Site PV generation (80%) and grid supplied Wind energy (20%).

Passive Solar & Natural Ventilation

A passive design strategy was developed using solar thermal and natural ventilation chimney to reduce the heating and cooling demand on the geothermal and PV mechanical systems.
